Nutrition Education - Professional Development for Early Childhood Educators and Trainers

Alabama Healthy Kids, Healthy Future works to build healthy starts in young children—and the adults who care for them by supporting early childhood educators and trainers with high-quality, evidence-based nutrition education and training. These programs empower educators with the tools, knowledge, resources, and confidence to promote lifelong healthy habits among the children in their care.

Our comprehensive nutrition trainings focus on several key areas:

  • Understanding Children’s Nutritional Needs

  • Family Style Dining and Positive Mealtime Practices

  • Meaningful Mealtime Conversations

  • Support for the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)

Trainings Currently Offered:

  • Cooking Matters for Child Care Professionals: Cooking Matters works in communities across the country to help parents and caregivers develop their skills when shopping for and cooking healthy foods on a budget. Training topics include:

    • Creating Positive Mealtime Attitudes

    • Choosing Healthy Foods for Kids

    • Menu Management on a Budget

    • And more!
