Growing Healthy Habits from A to Z: Connecting Alabama Foods, Farms, and CACFP in the Classroom

Participants will gain practical strategies to use local Alabama foods to meet CACFP meal pattern best practices, incorporate farm-to-ECE education, and create hands-on experiences that help children build healthy eating habits and understand where their food comes from.

The Alabama Farm to ECE Coalition introduces the Alabama Foods from A to Z Toolkit, a comprehensive resource designed to help CACFP providers integrate local foods, nutrition education, and hands-on learning into early childhood programs. This interactive session demonstrates how the Toolkit supports CACFP best practices, including serving a variety of fruits and vegetables, incorporating whole grains and lean proteins, and using seasonal and locally grown foods.

This session will be provided at the Alabama CACFP Conference, which will be held on March 31st and April 1st in Millbrook. AL.
