Play, Connect, Grow: The Connections Between Active Play and Social-Emotional Learning in Early Childhood

Young children start learning social emotional skills from birth. Like skills across developmental domains, social-emotional skills are learned best in safe environments with nurturing adults. Active play allows children to practice developmental skills as they follow their interests.

This session content explores four social emotional skills and identifies how active play can encourage skill development. Participants will be challenged to identify practices and activities they can bring to their environments.
